Week one on Thompson Pass
The Journey to Thompson Pass started on March 27th.
I met up with the crew in Anchorage. They had been competing in the Alyeska World Comp. For info on how they crushed the comp go here. They moved out of Jake Sakson’s veggie oil ambulance and into our 29′ RV.

We headed to Thompson Pass not knowing how great the next several days would be.Below are photos of a just a few of the many zones we skied.
Seven days on the pass and we got out skiing for six. You are usually lucky to get three or four sunny days in two weeks. We’ve been very lucky.
We toured five of the six ski days.

We got a one drop heli lift from Valdez Heli Ski Guides, since we’d already skied everything we could hike to.
Megan’s not only slaying her lines she’s also taking photos. Here are some skiing shots. She shot them all but the one of her that Paul took.
If the next three weeks go as good as this one has I will be one happy and tired camper. It’s really an amazing experience to get to go out and play in these mountains with such amazing athletes. Got to go to bed now we have more to ski tomorrow.

Looks like you nailed the weather. I was there the previous week and had 2 sunny days. Still was an awesome time. I think Turnagain Pass will be over by now from what the locals told me. Too coastal for April. How much did VHG charge for the heli bump per person? We did the same with H20 and it was $300 including a guide per person. Where did they drop you? Just comparing prices for next time I go.
Thanks,
Greg
Greg,
The weather the first two weeks was epic. However we are still up here now and the weather sucks. We were too late for Turnigan, but it was fun checking it out. Our pricing for VHSG is probably different then what you would get since we are a film company. However everything I have heard from others on the pass is that VHSG is the best price and will take you to terrain you want to ski. We are of course bias as they have been so kind to us. Peace.
