Local outdoor online gear retailer Backcountry.com has been a great supporter of the PW projects and many of our athletes for the last several seasons. They asked us to put together a short promo video highlighting some of their telemark athlete’s. This is a quick edit of some of our favorite shots form last season.

I am heading to Alaska on the 27th. I will pick up Megan Michelson, Jake Sakson, and Paul Kimbrough in Anchorage. They are already up there competing in the Alyeska Tele Freeski Comp. From Anchorage we are heading to Valdez in our RV/home. Our plan is to ski with Valdez Heli Ski Guides. They are nice enough to let us do heli one drops, so we can get right on top of a line first thing and then tour the rest of the day. We plan on doing that for two weeks.
Megan will be leaving us after two weeks and Paige Brady and Jason West will be joining us.
We are keeping our last two weeks open, so we can go where we hear it is good. I will try to update on how things are going.

The other night Noah and I went to Brighton Ski Resort to play with our new ContourHD helmet cams and headlamps. It was really fun being able to just duck off the lit runs and still be able to see. This edit is not that great, but we feel that when used in the backcountry it will really be quite cool. Enjoy.
We finally had the green light to go get us some bigger lines. Avy conditions were moderate, new snow had fallen, and it went bluebird, that all equals good times.
We have really not gotten out on anything too big this year due to avy conditions, so we really had a fun time.

This past week, two of our friends/athletes competed in the Salt Lake Shootout. It is a photography contest that pairs athletes with photographers. The photos they take are then judged in different categories for cash prizes. It’s no surprise to us that both Jason West and Andy Jacobsen were in some of the winning photos.

Photographer: Kevin Winzeler Athlete: Jason West. This photo of Jason won for best air and best in show.

photographer: Liam Doran athlete: Andy Jacobsen. Andy won best powder shot, as if anyone had a chance against a Powderwhore.
Way to go guys. Jason is heading North with us to British Columbia next week to do some hut skiing, and Andy will be going to Haines, AK again to get some big lines. They are both great guys and have put in a lot of time and work to get where they are. We are lucky to be able to shoot with them. Read more about the shootout here.
